Charity Sabrage Reunion Challenge

Updated: Dec 28, 2023

Our 2019 Self Drive Adventures Reunion is just a few weeks away and we are looking forward to catching up with our guests and hearing about their adventures.

On the day of the reunion, Saturday 9th March, we will be holding a small charity auction to raise funds for the International Anti-Poaching Foundation.

In addition to our charity auction, we are hosting a Charity Sabrage Challenge!

The term Sabrage means to open a bottle of bubbly with a Sabre. At the reunion, we will open five bottles of bubbly in the Sabrage style with a competition to see who can get their cork to fly the longest distance.

The winner will get a couple of bottles of bubbly to take home and enjoy some serious bragging rights.

To enter for 1 of the five spots, please donate $50 to the Anti-Poaching Foundation on this link, and we will get your bubbly chilled. Please email us a screenshot of the donation to info@selfdriveadventures.com

Here is Chris practising for the Sabrage challenge … complete with pith helmet and panga … he will be acting as the umpire and Sabrage guide on the day.

And here are the team from the French Laundry in Napa that had a little trouble with their Sabrage to show you how it shouldn’t be done .

Support the wonderful work that the International Anti-Poaching Foundation is doing and secure your bottle now. It is much easier than it looks and you will learn a new party trick to show off for years to come

PS: Safety goggles and gloves will be provided on the day - it's Australia after all!
