Rice harvest

2020 Self drive 19 days.png

The northernmost region of Vietnam is truly a driver’s or rider’s paradise. While we wait for our temporary Vietnamese driver’s licenses to be issued we will explore the UNESCO world heritage site of Ha Long Bay on an overnight cruise and also a ½ day tour of Hanoi.

The rugged mountains of northern Vietnam are home to colourful hill tribes and some of the best rice terracing in the whole country, if not the whole of Southeast Asia. Every bend in the road reveals something new. As we head north the rice fields will be starting to turn gold as they are getting ready to harvest and the countryside is very green from the end of the rainy season. Ready to get off the beaten track? Let’s go! You drive a US Army Jeep left at the end of the Vietnam War – an adventure in itself.

2 people per Jeep (twin share): USD7,995/Approx. AUD11,690* per person

Supplement for single accommodation:  USD740/Approx. AUD1,080*

Supplement for 1 person per Jeep (single share):  USD11,235/Approx. AUD16,520* (drops USD1,800/Approx. AUD2,645* if 11+ people on tour)

Solo travellers or non-driving seats available: If you like the sound of this adventure but prefer not to drive or are a solo traveller, you can join the tour in a support car.  This is not a Jeep but a 4x4 like a Toyota Hi-Lux double cab.  You cannot drive this vehicle.  Two solo seats are available in this vehicle.
