Arrival and departure transfers, vehicle hire (base model Hi-Lux, upgrades are available), driver fees for 2 people, wildlife guide at Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, roof top tent, bedding, linen, towels, fridge, water tank, cooking and camping equipment, spare tools and tyres, standard vehicle insurance, cross border permits for vehicle and carnet processing fee, two way radio in vehicle, National Park Fees in Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe (except at Vic Falls), 8 nights in guest houses / lodges / hotels, 2 nights on a house boat  and campsite fees for rest of trip, support vehicle.

Airfares return to Johannesburg, South Africa, fuel (budget approx. USD 3,500 per vehicle), food other than listed in itinerary (approx. USD1,300 per person), cross-border fees/taxes approx. USD1,000 per person, Visa’s for Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe (approx. USD510 per person), any vehicle upgrades chosen, optional activities (Gorilla tracking approx. USD810, Chimpanzee Boat Trip approx. USD250), vehicle excess, local tips, travel insurance (medical evacuation insurance highly recommended), vaccinations (if required), any other items of a personal nature and local tips.

A deposit of approximately ZAR10,000 (approx. AUD 1,100) will need to be paid and then refunded when the car is returned.  This amount is paid by credit card when collecting the vehicle along with any rental security deposits then refunded back onto your credit card when the car is returned.  The exact amount of this deposit is not known until about 1 week before your departure date.

Due to the high amount of kms covered on this trip, the cars will need to be serviced.  As this occurs outside of South Africa, it is not covered in the service agreement.  The cost for this service is estimated to be approx. USD300 per 4x4.

EAST AFRICA EXPEDITION - 70 DAYS

This 72 day African Expedition visits nine countries and countless attractions in East and Southern Africa. 

SOUTH AFRICA: Johannesburg will be the starting point for this epic journey, with a brief stop in Makhado (Louis Trichardt) en-route to Botswana.

BOTSWANA: Renowned for incredible game viewing and conservation, this adventure will visit the pioneering Khama Rhino Sanctuary as well as the renowned Elephant Sands reserve.  

ZAMBIA:  Zambia offers impressive wildlife diversity as well as some of the wildest and most remote game areas on the continent.   View Victoria Falls from Zambia or take your rest day to visit the Zimbabwe side.  You can expect to enjoy excellent game viewing in South & North Luangwa National Parks as well as visiting the site of ‘Africa House’ and the Kipisha Hot Springs. 

TANZANIA: Home to many of East Africa’s best attractions this expedition includes visiting: Lake Tanganyika, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and the incredible Ngorongoro Crater with its Maasai village.

RWANDA: As one of the leaders in Eco-Tourism Rwanda is forging a new future for itself after its turbulent past. Often referred to as the land of 1,000 hills our expedition includes visits the Akagera National Park and the historical Genocide Museum.

UGANDA: This expedition will explore the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park home to one of the most significant mountain gorilla populations in the world (optional excursion), Jinja the source of the White Nile, Murchison Falls, Lake Albert as well as Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to over 600 bird species and excellent game viewing.

KENYA:  In East Africa’s iconic safari destination, our expedition will take us to soda rich Lake Boringa with its vast flocks of Flamingo's then onto visiting the famed Maasai Mara, home to some of Africa’s largest herds of plains game, hopefully see Mt Kilimanjaro from Amboseli National Park.  

MALAWI:  Camp on the shores of Lake Malawi and traverse the highlands of the great rift valley. Visit to Nyika Plateau with large herds of Eland and Roan antelope.

ZIMBABWE:  Game viewing in Mana Pools, one of Africa's most renowned national parks and enjoy and two nights house-boating trip on Lake Kariba.
