I thoroughly recommend Self Drive Adventures. Their knowledge of vehicle choice, road conditions and camping equipment means you will not be disappointed. Small things count often on a trip like this - for example a thermos that retains its heat for most of the day, and a Kenwood Stereo with a USB input for playing music from a player, are two things that are worth mentioning! The bigger things naturally also make a difference - for example the type of off-road tyres on the vehicle. Having done safaris both professionally and personally throughout Africa for many years, I was delighted with the vehicle, service, equipment, logistical support and friendliness offered to me by Self Drive Adventures. Our vehicle was kitted to my exact specifications, it was presented to us in mint condition, and I was briefed thoroughly and extensively on its set-up and operational capabilities. I hired the vehicle to take 3 clients on safari through Namibia, and to aid us we were given insurance on the vehicle to travel outside of Namibia, as well as a satellite phone should we need to make emergency calls. Thankfully, the preparedness of SDA, as well as the excellent maintenance of their vehicles meant that I only had to worry about refuelling the vehicle and checking oil, water and tyre pressure levels. I drove over 5,000 km in just over 2 weeks, and handed the vehicle back to SDA a very happy man. Compliments abounded on our safari from both my clients and other travellers along the way. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to any would-be adventurers, that they are in very professional, safe and courteous hands with SDA. Rob Barber
